Oil immersion provides an increased current rating of approximately 70% and greater protection for use in adverse environments. Some of the models are economical on a rating – cost basis when compared with air cooled type units, providing intermediate or increased ratings.

When environmental protection is needed, such as in electroplating workshops, textile mills and oil plants, the Dimmer Dot should be used in an oil immersed form. Oil immersed units from 60 Amp 3 phase upwards, come standard with robust cooling tubes for long life protection. All our units are fitted with a bottom oil drain tap for your convenience. Transformer Oil supplied by Australian Rectifiers P/L is according to Australian Standard AS 60296: 2017 and IEC 60296: 2012.

Common Applications include:

  • Control of AC voltage and current in testing and developing work.
  • Over voltage and under voltage tests.
  • New or faulty electrical equipment – appliance testing. Gradual application of voltage to detect for any high fault current.
  • Lighting control in theatres, auditoriums, photographic studios, dark rooms, hotels, restaurants, rearing houses, etc.
    (Not recommended for discharge on hot-cathode fluorescent lighting).

  • Electroplating, Electrowinning, Anodising, Precious Metal Recovery, Hydrogenation,
  • Cathodic Protection, Battery plate forming.
  • Voltage control in DC power supplies and constant current supplies.
  • Regulated Output voltage control for Motor Servo type AC Stabilisers and Automatic Stabilisers
  • Voltage control for meter calibration, phase-angle control in the calibration of Watt meters and Power factor meters.
  • Motor speed control.
  • Control of electric heaters, furnaces and ovens in laboratory, pilot plant and production lines.
  • Current control for testing of circuit breakers, relays, current transformers, etc.
  • Testing of magnetic materials.
